This month marks the one year anniversary of the introduction of the American Health Care Act (AHCA), the Republicans’ attempt to replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

If enacted, the AHCA would have served a direct hit to Michigan residents. It would have likely ending our state’s Medicaid expansion and would have stripped protections against Michigan residents with pre-existing conditions.

Thanks to the rise of voices by everyday Americans, the bill ultimately failed in the U.S. Senate. But since then, the GOP’s attacks on our health care have not died down. In the months following, President Trump and Congressional Republicans have continued their attempts to sabotage our care through attacks like Graham-Cassidy and the disastrous TrumpTax. By the December 2017, 3.2 million more Americans were uninsured compared to the year before.

Despite these attacks, American voters have made it clear that we will continue to protect our care. We are going to rallies, attending town halls, writing letters to editor, and calling our representatives. And we are not backing down.
