New Ad Calls Out Upton on Healthcare Repeal Vote

MICHIGAN — Today, Michigan Families for Economic Prosperity announced the launch of a new ad holding Congressman Fred Upton accountable for his choice to raise health care costs when he voted for the American Health Care Act and tried to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

The powerful ad highlights the personal story of Bob, a constituent in Upton’s district, and how Upton’s vote for the Republican health care bill would have increased his premiums due to having a pre-existing condition. Bob urges Upton to stop trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

“Every vote on a bill in Congress is a choice, and unfortunately for Michigan, not only did our Republican congressional representatives choose the wrong side of the health care debate, but Fred Upton led the charge,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan, a member group of the Michigan Families for Economic Prosperity Coalition. “It is important for Rep. Upton to hear from his constituent about how Upton’s callous flip-flop on health care has impacted Bob and would negatively affect thousands of people across district.”

The ad is a part of six-figure buy in Michigan that will run over several weeks in the Grand Rapid’s media market.
